Bone Mineral Density & Body Composition Research Project – Control Volunteers Needed
Dear JCR/MCR members,
Study Title: The effects of weight restricted and non-weight restricted sports on bone density and body composition
Wanted: Non sporting University members for a free DXA scan
University of Oxford and Arthritis Research UK Centre for Sport, Exercise and Osteoarthritis would like to invite you to take part in a bone mineral density research study. This would involve one hour-long session in which you would come to the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (Headington) and complete a DXA (dual X-ray absorptiometry) scan to analyse bone health, body composition (lean & fat mass) and hip shape. On completion, you will receive a comprehensive 14 page breakdown of your bone health and body composition results from the DXA scan, the gold standard measurement.
To be included in this study you must be a University of Oxford member of 18-40 years old, be willing and able to provide consent, not be affiliated with any sports teams or participate in much physical activity. If you suspect that you may be pregnant or are currently breastfeeding, then you are unable to participate within this study.
If you would like further information on how to participate in this study, please contact the study coordinator James van Santen at james.vansanten@ndorms.ox.ac.uk.
Many thanks,
James van Santen
